Apps Like PrizePicks: 3 Rivals Deserve Your Attention

If you’re a fan of daily fantasy sports, you’ve probably heard of PrizePicks. It’s one of the most popular DFS pick’em apps, offering a unique approach for fans who may not live in a state with betting options. We spent a lot of time using and reviewing PrizePicks across many weeks and there are plenty of elements we love.

At the same time, we’re constantly aware of rival apps that want to take market share from PrizePicks. We’ve found a few apps like PrizePicks with similar features or key, potentially better, differences. Today, we’ve decided to round up three of PrizePicks’ biggest rivals to see how they compare. We’ll pit each of the platforms against this one and analyze the overall user experience, payout methods, multipliers, and much more.

What’s So Special About PrizePicks?

We’re looking at sites like PrizePicks because it’s one of the most highly rated DFS platforms in the US. It boasts a 4.4-star rating on Trustpilot with over 3,300 reviews – far more than any of the other sites mentioned in this guide.

It’s grown in popularity because of its simplicity. The app is easy for anyone to use and everything looks fluid and clear. Being legal in 31 states, Washington DC, and most Canadian territories also helps a lot.

The whole ethos of PrizePicks is to make daily fantasy sports easy for everyone. Gone are the days when you’d spend hours pouring over lineups and trying to come up with complicated strategies when forming a fantasy team. This app has a simple mantra: more or less? Find a sport, click on a player, and bet on whether they’ll achieve more or less across a plethora of statistics.

PrizePicks also offers a cool way to make your predictions. You get to choose between the following modes:

  • Flex Play – Choose 3 to 6 picks and receive a payout even if you get some of them wrong.
  • Power Play – Choose 2 to 4 picks and get even bigger payouts from your selections, but they must all be correct.
  • Demons and Goblins

A 100% correct 6/6 Flex Play ticket can notch 25x your stake while 5/6 still gets a decent 2x your stake. With PowerPlay, a 4/4 correct ticket gives 10x the entry fee.

It’s a fun and simple way of enjoying sports and making educated predictions – but do apps like PrizePicks compare? We’ll look at the different payout rates throughout, as well as various game modes offered by the different platforms. Any key similarities or differences will be highlighted too, so you get a proper overview of how each rival matches against PrizePicks.

Sleeper vs. PrizePicks

Sleeper Picks vs. PrizePicks

We’ll kick off the comparisons with Sleeper Fantasy, a very impressive mobile fantasy platform with a cool app interface and many intriguing features. It’s come a long way over the years and keeps getting bigger and better. What started as the home of fantasy football leagues has grown into a fully-fledged DFS platform.

Let’s begin with the most important thing: bonus codes! We offer a Sleeper Picks promo code that gets you 100% of your first deposit. Click the link to learn more and see how you can claim yours when signing up.

With over 6 million monthly active users, Sleeper is a hit with many sports fans. So, let’s see what it offers compared to PrizePicks:

Sleeper App Compared To PrizePicks app

Sleeper vs. PrizePicks
App Screen Comparison of Sleeper vs. PrizePicks

When compared to the PrizePicks app, Sleeper’s interface can be a bit overwhelming at first. A lot is going on with loads of players on your screen and multiple stats to look at. To be fair, some advanced players love the Sleeper app UX and to be frank, that is who Sleeper should be catering to with such an advanced platform.

Sleeper Picks App:

  1. Full game schedule with live scoring and easy player choice by game or team
  2. Player boxes are loaded with all available stat lines
  3. Daily promos are right in your face to use if you are a new user
  4. Overall design is by far the best in the industry.

PrizePicks App:

  1. Clean and easy to navigate
  2. Can’t compare to the shear volume of player and game info available on Sleeper
  3. Player search function is easy to find and use
  4. Overall design is solid, but far behind Sleeper.

1. Game Modes & Payouts Comparison

Sleeper’s array of game modes is what truly differentiates it from PrizePicks. Whether the diversity of games is better or worse is for you to decide – it depends on what you want out of a DFS platform.

Sleeper provides traditional fantasy leagues for the NBA, NFL, NCAAF, NCAAB, NHL, MLB as well as for League of Legends esports. There’s a Bracket Mania mode too, allowing you to try and correctly predict the upcoming college basketball season. All of these modes are for fun and you can’t win money – but it does have a Picks section to win real cash.

The upside of this is that there are so many stats on Sleeper for you to make better predictions. It’s your typical over/under format but each prediction has a multiplier. Get all of your picks right and the contest can pay a maximum of 100x your entry fee. That’s significantly more than the 25x maximum offered by PrizePicks.  PrizePicks lets you pick outcomes across a much larger wave of sports – including soccer, tennis, golf, and esports. Your potential to win also depends on getting all of the predictions correct. PrizePicks benefits from its Flex Play mode where you can still be wrong and win in some cases.

2. Sleeper Picks Community Features Win The Day

PrizePicks doesn’t have a built-in community feature and it’s got no social elements at all. This is one of the things we dislike about the app – but it’s the opposite at Sleeper.

Members can form communities on the Sleeper Fantasy app and talk to other sports fans. There’s a chat feature too, so you can message one another about pick ems or enter contests together. It brings a social element to the table, which is one of the best things about fantasy sports. We love being able to talk to friends or find new friends via the app!

3. Ever-Important Banking Methods Comparison

In terms of banking methods, both offer Visa and Discover cards while PrizePicks also lets you use Apple Pay and PayPal. Sleeper is supposed to accept Mastercard and Google Pay soon, so that evens things out a bit.

Both allow withdrawals to your card or bank account, and PrizePicks accepts PayPal withdrawals too. There’s not much to separate the two in terms of speed – they’re virtually instant in most cases.

4. Entry Cancellation PrizePicks vs. Sleeper

When using PrizePicks, you must avoid entering contests by mistake. One misclick is all it takes to stake money you didn’t mean to stake. Sleeper Fantasy recently revealed a feature to prevent this from happening on its app. You have 5 minutes to cancel any entries after making them.

How good is that? You can immediately change your mind or avoid any simple mistakes. It’s probably the best feature this app has that PrizePicks doesn’t.

Betr Picks vs. PrizePicks

Betr Picks vs. PrizePicks

If you’re keen to find apps like PrizePicks, look no further than Betr Picks. It’s part of Betr, which launched in 2022 and is partly owned by social media superstar Jake Paul. The platform was designed with microbetting in mind. It wanted to give players a way of betting on live events during different sports matches, though has recently expanded to the DFS market with Betr Picks.

We’ll compare its core features with PrizePicks in a moment, but be sure to claim the Betr Picks promo code if you choose to join. With our code, you can double your first deposit up to $500!

1. Betr Picks App Still Needs Some Work

The app is currently in Beta mode and can only be used on mobile devices. Nevertheless, it’s very good. There’s a cleanness to it that we love and it’s easy to see what you’re clicking on. If you opt for micro-betting, all odds are displayed under each outcome, meaning you know what you’ll win if it comes true.

Compared to PrizePicks, there’s not a huge deal of differences. Both have gone for a similar dark theme with purple branding – the biggest difference is that PrizePicks goes for bigger player squares when you’re selecting entries.

2. Game Modes & Payouts Comparison

We’ve spoken about the different PrizePicks game modes, so what’s on offer at Betr Picks?

The main Betr app lets you experience over-under pick’em options across many sporting events. You see different outcomes and can predict if they’ll happen – each outcome has odds attached that multiply your stake.

However, Betr Picks is solely designed for daily fantasy sports. There’s nothing fancy here; pick between 2 or 8 outcomes and earn from 3x to 100x your stake. Unlike PrizePicks, there is no room for error. If you get something wrong, your entire contest is over.

Having said that, Betr Picks certainly has higher payouts. If you get a 6/6 ticket on PrizePicks, you’re gaining 25x your stake. At Betr, it’s 30x – plus you can add more entries to further multiply the payout. As if that’s not enough, Betr recently unveiled industry-leading 300x payouts!

betr picks app

In short, there aren’t many ways to play on Betr Picks and it doesn’t cover as many sports markets as PrizePicks. Nevertheless, if you want to pick a platform with the best payouts, this could be the one.

3. PrizePicks Wins For Customer Service

Both Betr Picks and PrizePicks have customer support centers on their websites for you to look at. They provide knowledge bases full of frequently asked questions to help you find the answers to your queries.

Alternatively, you can reach out to either team through live chat support. From our experience, PrizePicks was far better. It actually puts you in contact with a real person, while Betr Picks seems to offer an automated service.

4. Betr Picks Banking Methods

Betr Picks joins PrizePicks in accepting debit cards, bank transfers, and PayPal payments. There’s one glaring difference between the two here; Betr Picks does not take any credit card payments.

This isn’t a mistake – it’s purposely done by Joey Levy, one of the co-founders. He announced back in 2022 that Betr would be the first US online gambling operator to ban credit card payments in a view to help responsible gambling. We must commend the platform for doing this and it doesn’t affect the usability at all.

You can make withdrawals on Betr Picks by choosing the same method used to deposit. For instance, if you deposit via PayPal, you must withdraw via this method. This means you should think hard before choosing your deposit method – pick one you’d like your money to return to if you win!

One last thing to note regarding banking is that PrizePicks won’t let you withdraw money unless you wager it. Any accidental deposits must be played through, but this is where Betr Picks shines. It won’t provide deposit refunds, though it will let you withdraw the money without wagering.

Underdog Fantasy vs. PrizePicks

Next on the list of sites like PrizePicks is Underdog Fantasy. It’s a DFS app with rave reviews from over 58,000 users on the App Store. Better yet, the site says it has dished out over $600 million in winnings since launch! Players win every day thanks to a great system and many ways to play.

You know the drill by now – we’ll jump into the comparison after discussing the welcome promotions. Surprise, surprise, there’s a juicy Underdog Fantasy promo code up for grabs. More details are provided in the link but you can get a 100% deposit match bonus of up to $100 when you join!

1. Underdog vs. PrizePicks App Design

Underdog and PrizePicks have contrasting mobile apps. The latter is dark while the former goes for lighter and brighter colors. One feature of the Undergod app that stands out is the organization of picks for a specific sport. There’s a menu at the top with all the sports and you can click on the icons to see what’s on offer for the current day.

All the higher and lower events are easily displayed and there’s a funky indicator at the bottom telling you how many picks you’ve made and what the payout multiplier will be if you win.

2. Underdog Fantasy Game Modes & Payouts

We chose Underdog when looking at apps like PrizePicks because it specifically rivals the game modes. PrizePicks’ offerings of Power Play and Flex Play are available on the Underdog Fantasy app under different terminology:

  • Picks – Underdog’s version of Power Play where you must get all of your picks correct to win.
  • Insured Entries – A rival to Flex Play where you get money back if some of your entries don’t come through.

Both game modes work similarly to PrizePicks yet there are minor differences in some of the payouts and the number of picks you can make for each entry.

For instance, PrizePicks only allows 2-4 picks for Power Play contests giving you 3x, 5x, or 10x your stake. Underdog Fantasy allows 2-5 picks and gives 3x, 6x, 10x, and 20x payouts. The multipliers are very similar but you get slightly more for a 3/3 correct sheet.

Looking at Flex Play/Insured Entries, there are differences yet again. PrizePicks allows 3-6 picks and has a maximum payout of 25x. Underdog only allows 3-5 picks with a max payout of 10x. Also, PrizePicks provides slightly more room for error. If you only get 3 of 5 picks right, you still receive .4x your stake. Underdog only pays out if you get at least 4 of 5 right.

Aside from DFS over/under pick’em, Underdog Fantasy has a feature called Best Ball. This is a fantasy contest where you pay to enter and draft some picks. It goes on throughout an entire season and has a massive prize pool at the end. The current one is $15 million. PrizePicks doesn’t have anything close to this for players to enjoy!

3. Underdog Fantasy Customer Service Lacks A Bit

We aren’t huge fans of the Underdog Fantasy customer service, which is why we’re bringing it up. There isn’t a Help Center like on other sites like PrizePicks and you can’t even find an email contact number. All there is is a form for you to fill in and make a request. It could do with some major improvements here.

4. Underdog vs. PrizePicks Banking Methods

It’s fair to say that Underdog doesn’t have the world’s most diverse banking methods. You can deposit using credit or debit cards from any major provider – including Amex – or add funds via PayPal.

Withdrawals are completely free, which is nice, and there’s a $10 minimum. We’ve seen lower, but realistically most of us are going to try and withdraw more than $10 at a time!

Vivid Picks vs. PrizePicks

Finally, let’s talk about Vivid Picks! It’s a new version of an old DFS app called Betcha. Some of you may have used that and been around when the transition was made. Betcha was bought by Vivid Seats who turned it into their daily fantasy sports platform. Now, it delivers a brilliant place for sports fans to unite and win money from their predictions.

Yes, there’s a Vivid Picks promo code for new users to enjoy! Deposit at least $5 and get a 100% bonus and a cheeky $5 free contest entry. Learn more by reading the guide in our link, and keep scrolling to see how Vivid Picks lines up against PrizePicks

1. Vivid Picks App Design vs. PrizePicks App

We love the design of this mobile app and it works beautifully on Android and Apple devices. The colors pop and all the sports and entries are easy for you to find and click on. Vivid Picks has pretty much built a social media platform into its app as well, which is very impressive and a great way to speak to other sports enthusiasts.

Our only gripe is the lack of a desktop app or website. If you want to play, you can only do so via your mobile.

2. Vivid Picks Game Modes & Payouts

Much like PrizePicks, Vivid Picks offers two main ways of playing daily fantasy sports. The first offering is your classic over/under DFS picks. Select a sport, choose a match, pick a player, and bet over/under on different outcomes. We discovered that this app has some of the most diverse categories for each player so you have more things to predict.

You must place between 2-5 picks for each contest entry with the payouts as follows:

  • 2 picks – 2.5x
  • 3 picks – 5x
  • 4 picks – 10x
  • 5 picks – 17x

Compared to PrizePicks the payouts are very similar and it does offer an extra pick selection. However, if we look at other apps like PrizePicks, the payout rate is not that high for getting 5/5 selections right. Other sites offer 20x or more.

The second game mode is called Matchups. As you can probably tell, it involves matching two players against one another. These matchups are selected by the Vivid Picks team and you have to decide which player will come out on top in the chosen category. For example, you could have LeBron versus Doncic for points in a game and have to pick who you think will end up with the most.

It’s a fun take on daily fantasy sports and you can add between 2 or 5 picks to your entry. The payout rates for this are the same as above, only 5/5 picks gives you 16.5x your stake. We’ve absolutely no idea why they chose to reduce your payout by .5 but there we go.

3. Vivid Picks Community Features

Vivid Picks is one of two apps like PrizePicks with a great community feature. To be honest, it’s probably the best community feature we’ve seen. The app provides a social platform for people to talk to one another or enter contests together. You can trash-talk your buddies or get tips from other punters for upcoming game weeks.

Here’s the coolest thing though; Vivid Picks has social leaderboards. You can join them with your friends and you’ll each rise the ladder based on how much XP you gain. XP is gained by getting correct predictions and the top players will earn Vivid Bucks.

Vivid Bucks are bonus funds credited from competitions or promotions and can’t be withdrawn. You can use them to enter contests and they will generate real cash winnings for you to withdraw.

4. Vivid Picks Banking Methods

We’ll level with you, Vivid Picks doesn’t have the greatest choice of banking methods. You’re stuck using credit/debit cards or bank transfers – which may be fine for some but we’d love to see offerings like PayPal or Apple Pay. They’re available at PrizePicks, so they should be available here as well.

You need at least $5 to make a deposit and your withdrawals have to be $15 or over. Other than that, there aren’t many banking rules to be aware of.

So, Which App Is The Best Alternative To PrizePicks?

We’re not saying PrizePicks is the best DFS app of all time, but it’s got all the main features you want to see in one. Plus, if you’re already a PrizePicks user and want to take advantage of welcome bonuses from elsewhere, it helps to see what’s on offer from apps like PrizePicks.

So, which one of the four alternatives is the best? Honestly, they’re all great in their own way.

  1. Sleeper is a fantastic app for those of you who want traditional fantasy sports mixed in with DFS over/under pick’ems.
  2. Betr Picks offers the highest payouts, meaning it’s the best for earning the most money.
  3. Underdog Fantasy is probably the greatest direct alternative as it offers its own version of PrizePicks’ Flex Play game mode.
  4. And then you have Vivid Picks; the best option if you want to join a social community!

You can’t go wrong with any of these choices – just make sure you use our promo codes when joining to bag the welcome bonus offers.
